MONSTER BOOK FAIR

Coming to Throop Elementary  October 14-22 is the Monster Book Fair. This year’s theme is “Reading is so much fun, you’ll get Goosebumps.”

There will be two oportunities for a family event at the book fair this year! On Thursday, Oct. 15 from 3:30-8:30 p.m. and Friday,Oct. 16th from 12:00-3:30p.m. , parents and family are invited to shop for their favorite books!

Throop Library Book Fair will close on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

2015 Throop Grandparents’ Week

2015 Grandparents’ Week at Throop Elementary is scheduled for the days following Labor Day. On scheduled days, grandparents may eat with students in the cafe.

Adult lunches cost $3.30 this year. Since you will need exact amount to pay cashier in lunch line, staff will be available to make change when you enter the building. Please return reservations to classroom teacher so an adequate count can be determined. Ice cream will be sold in the cafe daily during Grandparents’ Week! All ice cream and bananas are 50 cents each.

Throop Elementary Student Council will take pictures of students with grandparents in the library for only $2.00.

The front parking lot will be available for guests to park, as well as the south parking lot between the elementary and high school buildings. Doors will be open for entry at 10:45.

Each grade level has a preferred day for grandparents to join us.  Those days are Tuesday (9/8) for 1st and 2nd grade, Wednesday (9/9) for Kindergarten and 3rd grade, Thursday (9/10) for 4th and 5th grade, and Friday (9/11) for PreK and 6th grade students.

Lunch times for each grade level:

Pre-K:  10:50 – 11:25

Kindergarten:  11:10 – 11:35

1st:  11:00 – 11:25

2nd:  11:35 – 12:05

3rd:  11:50 – 12:15

4th:  11:25 – 11:50

5th:  12:10 – 12:35

6th:  12:15 – 12:40

6th grd. band:  12:00 -12:20

REMINDER!

Parents,

It is important for students to be in class during instruction. Many Throop Students have been coming to school late. All important notes on attendance can be found on pp 1, 2 and 3 of the Throop Elementary Parent-Student Handbook.  Please note that on page 2 it states, “Tardy: Arrival to the building after 8:15 A.M. and before 9:30 A.M. (Arrival after 9:30 A.M. constitutes a morning half-day absence.

If you bring  children to school, please remember that they must be in the building by 8:15 or they will be counted as “tardy”. This allows all students to arrive to classrooms to get organized for the day.

Meet and Greet this Tuesday!

Throop Elementary School will be hosting Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 4th.  Students and parents are invited to come to school between 5:00pm and 6:30pm to meet their teachers, drop off school supplies, find their seats, and get to know their classrooms before the first day of school begins.
